Adam was born in Sutton Coldfield and raised in the Staffordshire town of Tamworth. His parents were both teachers, Geoff being Deputy Head at Boldmere School and Fran a reception teacher at Dosthill Tamworth. Adam is the youngest of four siblings and now lives with his wife Lucy and sons Bobby and Ted in Mickleover, South Derbyshire.
He was always a keen sportsman but Rugby and Cricket were his passions, until he discovered golf. After moving to Amington, near the municipal course at the age of 10, golf became central to his life. Adam joined Drayton Park at fifteen then Whittington Heath at twenty one, where his course record of 64 in the 2001 Club Championship still stands. In addition to his five Club Championship titles, Adam played for Staffordshire at all levels and won several county championships and amateur tournaments while achieving a handicap of +1.
Adam started his career as a greenkeeper at the age of twenty two where he worked at The Belfry for five years and covered many professional and televised tournaments such as the B & H International Open and 2002 Ryder Cup Matches. After three seasons working as a Deputy Head Greenkeeper in Stockholm, Sweden, Adam was Assistant Course Manager at Penn Golf Club in Wolverhampton. Adam has gained many qualifications from Amenity Horticulture and Sports Turf to personnel management and Chainsaw and Spraying certificates. Adam is a full member of the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association. He has attended numerous exhibitions, seminars and workshops resulting in always being up to date with the latest technology, innovation and science within the industry.
Since November 2011 Adam has been the Course Manager at Handsworth Golf Club, he has totally reorganised working practices and quality control. The improvement in the course over the last seven years has been inspirational. The green staff is hardworking and conscientious, this has been noted in their general demeanour and is a credit to all involved. The golf course is now back to its best and everyone who plays here has been delighted with the presentation and condition of this beautiful Harry Colt designed course. Adam has done a superb job and deserves the plaudits that are coming his way.
