Midlands Ladies Veterans Team Championships.
On Monday 11th October through to Wednesday 13th October, Handsworth Golf club had the pleasure in hosting the Midlands Ladies Veterans Team Championships.
The event consisting of 10 clubs from the Midlands, starting with a team Greensome event on the Monday followed by two qualifying medal rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Greensome was the warm-up event with Derbyshire being the victors finishing with 41 points. Taking second place on count back were Worcestershire from Derbyshire in third both with 38 points.
Tuesday, officially day one, first tee time at 9.30 saw the competition really begin with the first medal round. Three scores to count per team, left the scores at close of play tight with one point between the top three clubs. Nottinghamshire on 239 leading to Staffordshire and Worcestershire, both with 240.
Following food and an evening with entertainment by a very good Neil Diamond tribute act, it was time for the final day to commence.
Day three again saw a 9.30 start time, same format as the previous day. Everything to play for, Staffordshire being the current champions and only one point behind Nottinghamshire. The scoring as expected did not disappoint with Nottinghamshire coming home victorious finishing with a total score for the two medal rounds of 482 gross. Beating Staffordshire into second place with a gross score of 488 and Worcestershire into third with a score of 489.
The nett competition was taken by Leicestershire finishing with a score of 455 to Shropshire with 458 and Warwickshire with 463.
A huge thank you to MLVGA for choosing Handsworth Golf Club as its host venue for 2021.
